Logroño once again honors its patron saint with flowers

The Cubo del Revellín and the Puerta del Camino, converted into a symbol of the 1521 site, once again hosted the act of historical evocation, the one in which the ringing of bells from the churches of the Old Town were joined by the most Riojan musical airs. setting the rhythm for the different dance groups – and this 2024, as a novelty, with rap modernizing the tradition. And in which Conrado Escobar, as first mayor, intervenes and renews his commitment to the saint. His commitment in this case.

«The events that we remember during these holidays forged our identity as a city (…) I defend that Logroño is a city in permanent evolution, a city that looks to the future with enthusiasm and determination, that continues to grow and develop from a spirit of coexistence, respect and solidarity. A welcoming, open, happy and vibrant city like the people of Logroño are,” he said in a speech with the main regional and local authorities present – ​​with the president of La Rioja, Gonzalo Capellán, in front.

«This year marks the 500th anniversary of the construction of the framework in which we are located and which is the central point of the festivities (…) A vestige therefore of our history, an emblematic point of the city and a must-see place for tourists . Escobar, on his 60th birthday, drew on history in one day, the day of the floral offering (with the boys and girls of San Bernabé dressed in the regional costume representing the entire city as the main protagonists), precisely to remember: «These Every year, festivals commemorate the siege that Logroño suffered in 1521 and how on June 11, now free from the French threat, we celebrate the triumph and swear the vow of Saint Barnabas.
