Although rain is essential for the reproduction of some species, when it is very constant and strong, it can bring some effects on wildlife. In the last two weeks, 32 wild animals in the department of Antioquia have been found injured or disoriented due to the intensity of rainfallas reported by the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area, the region’s environmental authority.

The animals with the most reports are swallows, guacharacas, currucutúes, hawks, pigeons and pigeons of various species. The refuges of these birds are their nests that are affected when trees fall on urban roads. Likewise, the burrows of different mammals can be flooded, causing the species to seek refuge in homes or offices.

According to the authorities, even some snakes such as snails that like to live underground, can explore other types of spaces such as logs, stones and sometimes enter homes during this season.

Given these events, the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley called on citizens to act responsibly in these types of cases, that is, without harming or affecting the fauna, but rather to help report them to the relevant authorities.

“We recommend to citizens avoid attacking or capturing these wild animals. On the contrary, Let’s help them return safely to their habitats. If you are injured, you can contact our wildlife line 3046300090″he clarified Andrés Gómez Higuita, wildlife CAVR supervisor of the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area

It should be remembered that the Center for Care, Assessment and Rehabilitation of Wildlife in the Metropolitan Area is a project that is developed in agreement with the CES University.
