  • Vientos y Cuerdas is the name of the concert that the main Maulino cast will present on the TRM stage and in Constitución.

After the success of its recently experienced “Mozart Special”, the Maule Classical Orchestra (OCM) is getting ready to dazzle the public with its fourth concert of the 2024 season, titled “Vientos y Cuerdas”. On Thursday, June 13, at 8:00 p.m., the Maule Regional Theater will be the setting for an evening dedicated to chamber music, with performances by two important composers: Frank Bridge and Joseph Rheinberger.

The program will begin with “Suite for String Orchestra, H.93 (1909)” by Frank Bridge, a work that encapsulates the elegance and virtuosity characteristic of the English composer. The suite promises to take the audience on a journey through lyrical passages and contrasting dynamics, highlighting the technical prowess and expressiveness of the OCM musicians.

Next, the orchestra will present “Nonett for Winds and Strings in E flat major, Op. 139” by Joseph Rheinberger, a less frequent work in repertoires, but equally fascinating. This nonet masterfully combines winds and strings, creating complex and enveloping sounds that reflect the genius of the German composer.

Under the direction of Octavio Torres, the OCM will offer a show that promises to demonstrate the versatility of this cast and their level of interpretation.

Frank Bridge (1879-1941), one of the most prominent British composers of his time, significantly influenced English music of the 20th century. Throughout his career, he embraced diverse styles, from late romanticism to impressionism and modernism. His ability to write for string instruments is particularly notable, featuring prominently in his chamber and orchestral works.

Joseph Rheinberger (1839-1901), German composer and organist, is remembered as a leading exponent of late Romanticism in Germany. Known for his mastery of choral and chamber music composition, his works are characterized by elegant melodies, rich harmonies, and a balance between contrapuntal tradition and innovation.

EXTENSION

In addition to the presentation in Talca, the Maule Classical Orchestra will bring this interesting program to the newly inaugurated Teatro Municipal de Constitución on Friday, June 14, giving the coastal community the opportunity to enjoy an evening of exceptional chamber music.

Verónica Barahona, Executive Secretary (I.) of the Maule Regional Theater spoke about the high interest from the public in the orchestra’s events and the cast extension agenda. “People have been very enthusiastic about the TRM programming and especially regarding the Maule Classical Orchestra. We recently experienced a special Mozart concert with a large number of audiences, both in Talca and Linares. Now we are preparing for the Constitución theater and other commitments outside the Maule in important theaters in the country will follow.”
