The new bad weather front that will hit the region will leave abundant rain, more than a meter of snow in the mountain range and a high probability of mass removal in the central valley.

As reported by the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred), 45 mm of water is expected to precipitate between 8 AM on Wednesday, June 12, and 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 13.

While between 8 a.m. on Thursday 13th of the present and 8 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 60 mm of water is expected to fall in the valley and the Coastal Mountain Range, 50 mm on the coast and 65 mm in the pre Mountain range.

Regarding the wind, from the morning of June 12 until the afternoon of Thursday the 13th, wind is expected between 40 and 60 km/h, with gusts that could reach 80 km/h, on the coast and in the Cordillera de la Sierra. Coast.

Snow

At the same time, the Chilean Meteorological Directorate published a weather alert for moderate to heavy snowfall that will affect the region on Wednesday, June 12 and Thursday, June 13 of the same month.

For Wednesday, between 80 and 110 cm of snowfall is expected, with a zero isotherm between 2,100 and 3,400 meters above sea level (m asl)

While, for Thursday, June 13, it is expected that it will snow between 100 and 120 cm of snow, with an isotherm between 1,900 and 2,100 m asl

Mass removal

Senapred indicated that, as reported by the National Geology and Mining Service of Chile, the probability of occurrence of mass removals is low for the mountain range, moderate for the coast and the coastal mountain range, while for the valley and the foothills of the region is high.
