More than 400 thousand students will stay at home due to indefinite strike of the Teaching Department

With a concentration at the Liceo Celedón Educational Institution from 8:00 in the morning and later a large takeover of Santa Marta, by the teachers of the northern municipalities, the strike began in the education union called by Fecode and sponsored in the Magdalena by Edumag.

At least 400 thousand students from the Magdalena primary and secondary school, attended by more than 18 thousand teachers, including the District of Santa Marta and the certified municipality of Ciénaga, who from tomorrow will stay at home, because the teachers will be unemployed following guidelines from Edumag and this from Fecode.

The concentration at the Liceo Celedón will be attended by teachers from the official schools of the municipalities of the north of Magdalena, that is, Puebloviejo, Zona Bananera, Aracataca, Fundación, El retén, Algarrobo and Ciénaga, who will join the teachers from the District of Santa Marta.

By virtue of the above, the Edumag board declares the teachers of the Department of Magdalena, District of Santa Marta and certified Municipality of Ciénaga in a state of maximum alert.

“We recommend taking advantage of the permanent national strike called by Fecode starting this Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in rejection of the amendment made to the Statutory Education Law Project, which distorts the spirit of Public Education, as a fundamental right and a good. “common and we reject the poor provision of health services and the lack of medicines in the dispensers that further increase the illnesses of patients,” say the directors of Edumag.
