In the last epidemiological week, between June 2 and 8, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed 1,048 new cases of flu, accumulating 10,656 positive cases since the beginning of this year.

Rivadavia (2,831) and Orán (2,300) are the departments that recorded the most cases. Then follow Capital (1598), Metán (888), Los Andes (716) and San Martín (543).

The most affected age range is between 5 and 9 years old, with 1,589 cases, which represents 14.9% of the total cases; followed by the age group of 25 to 34 years, with 1,271, that is, 11.9%; and in third place, those from 10 to 14 years old, with 1,223 positives, meaning 11.5%. Older adults total 548 cases, which represents 5.2%.

From the General Directorate of Epidemiological Coordination they reported that in the surveillance of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI), since 2024 began, 2,577 cases of pneumonia and 2,938 of bronchiolitis were reported in children under 2 years of age.

They also reported that in the last one there were 103 hospitalized patients with some of this virus, in different health institutions in the province.

The head of the Epidemiological Surveillance program, Vanina Galván, stated that these viruses are transmitted from person to person, through respiratory secretions.

“If there are respiratory symptoms, you should consult a specialist and not self-medicate. The care guidelines are the same as what we have learned during the pandemic, such as coughing into the crook of the elbow, washing hands frequently with soap and water, using alcohol 70% and, if you have symptoms, wear a mask when in contact with other people,” he explained.

Likewise, the professional said that the vaccines are free and are available in different health services in the capital and the interior.

“There are immunizers against influenza, bronchiolitis, pneumonia and COVID-19 that are a great tool to save lives. Although they do not prevent Acute Respiratory Infections, they do reduce complications, hospitalization, death and sequelae caused by these viruses,” he pointed out. .
