We are tonight in the capital of the department, Riohacha, and I have the joy of opening the AMA catwalk thanks to the sponsorship and support of Cerrejón. Today I come representing all the communities to show the world that it is possible, that we have the wood and that we have a lot of work to undertake in this race. This support has been very important for me because it is a showcase through which I can show my work and infect other designers so that they can crystallize their dreams. It is a strengthening not only for culture, but it is a socioeconomic factor that favors to families”said Esther Bolaño Ipuana, authority and artisan from the neighboring community of Cerrejón, Irruwain.

AMA is the most important catwalk that La Guajira has, it translates art, fashion and accordion. Every year we meet here to enjoy all the creations of these talented Guajiro designers. In this way we promote and strengthen the sector at a business level, we energize the economy. This year we had an excellent participation from an artisan supported by Cerrejón, we want to thank the company for linking itself in this way with the Francisco el Hombre Festival and strengthening the cultural and artistic part of the people of our department“, he mentioned Carmen Cecilia Mendozaexecutive director of the Francisco el Hombre Festival.

During the Festival, Cerrejón continued to make a splash in different scenarios: the presentation of the Symphony Orchestra in the Francisco el Hombre Juvenil competition; the participation of one of the members of this musical program in the panel Present and future of the Vallenata heritage song, alongside the composers Rafael Manjarréz, Fernando Meneses and Roberto Calderón; and the display of the traditional Wayuu dance of the communities La Horqueta and Campo Herrera in the inaugural Art and Culture for Peace parade.

At Cerrejón we have a great commitment to the communities and we continue to weave threads with them, this time from the capital Guajira at the Francisco el Hombre Festival. This year we performed in various scenarios in which we reaffirmed the talent of our neighbors, from the children of the music program, through traditional dance with La Horqueta and Campo Herrera and landing on the art of a Wayuu woman who creates majestic pieces and who was the only artisan present at AMA. We definitely made a great chinchorro in which today we see dreams come true, all this in a space that allows us to continue generating progress and development for our Guajira and, above all, preserving traditions and culture.“, he expressed Juan Carlos García OteroSocial Affairs Manager at Cerrejón.
