“To the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution of the people and Government of Cuba,” reads the bands of the floral arrangement placed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the sculpture erected in his honor in the Sokol district of Moscow.

The sculptural work to Fidel inaugurated by the presidents of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and of the Slavic nation Vladimir Putin, on November 22, 2022, represents a tribute from Russian society to whom they classify as a paradigm of Latin America and the world.

In the square named after the undefeated Commander in Chief since 2017, a three-meter-high bronze statue was erected, depicting the bearded young man in military uniform with his traditional beret, standing on a stone block with the map from Cuba.

After its unveiling, the architect and sculptor of the work, Andrey Beliy and Alexey Chebanenko, respectively, stated that the sculpture represents the heroic path of a man who defended the rights of the people in his nation.

Likewise, the head of diplomacy of the Caribbean nation visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, to pay tribute to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

At the historical site, a mandatory visit for everyone who comes to Moscow, the Cuban minister laid a wreath to honor those who fell in the fighting against Nazi Germany in World War II. After both activities, Rodríguez and the delegation accompanying him will establish bilateral talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergei Lavrov.
