Holguín: man missing for days found alive

A man, identified as José Ricardo Mendoza, a worker at a Transportation base in Marcané, Cueto, Holguín, was found alive after four days lost in a mountain, sources indicated on social networks.

The report of his disappearance had been disclosed on Facebook by independent activist Saúl Manuel, who asked the community for help to find him.

“If anyone has seen him, or knows the whereabouts of this great man, let me know, his name is: José Ricardo Mendoza. He works at the transportation base next to the Cupet de Marcané, in Cueto, Holguín. He left the house yesterday afternoon and we still don’t know anything about him. Thank you in advance,” explained Yudelquis Ramírez, while leaving the number of two telephone numbers of the worker’s relatives.

Fortunately, this June 10, in the official profile Realidades desde Holguín, the appearance of the man in a wooded area at the entrance to Orozco in Barajagua was confirmed.

“They found José Ricardo Mendoza, a resident of Marcané, after 4 days absent from his home (…) he had gone out to see a friend and never arrived at his destination (…) the family informed the Police and a search was organized one day and night”, they detailed.

The authorities recognized that many neighbors and relatives joined the search for Mendoza and the “maneuvers to find him extended through Barajagua and Marcané.”

“Basic psychopathological illnesses that cause memory impairment and disorientation conditioned this situation. A triumph for everyone was reaching him,” they added.

According to the official source, Mendoza is very thin, “battered by the days he disappeared,” because he was feeding on what “nature offered him.”

Likewise, they assured that they performed a medical check-up at the Marcané Hospital, located in the eastern province.

In the midst of the high crime rate and the wave of violence in Cuba, many Facebook users mentioned that it was “lucky” that this story had ended well for the missing man.

“You are very happy José for all the people who did not give up looking for you. I wish all the news we see like this had the same happy ending,” one person commented.

Cases of disappearances in Cuba, whether of men, women or children, are very often reported on social networks, and many end in crimes.
