“We are on the path of strengthening our political dialogue and we are working on impulses to stimulate the Cuban economy,” Lavrov emphasized during the press conference with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez.
In addition, the Russian head rejected the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States government.
“Unfortunately, the United States and its Western partners maintain a unilateral policy of sanctions and finance the ultra-radicals in kyiv,” he said.
Lavrov appealed for the exclusion of Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, “The United States is the first to sponsor terrorism against the Nazis in Ukraine,” he stressed.
The Russian minister stated that Cuba will be able to count on humanitarian aid in times of natural disasters due to its status as an island and problems with climate change.
He also addressed Rodríguez Parrilla as “my friend”, and thanked the presence of the Cuban delegation at the Ministerial Summit of the BRICS countries that was held in the Russian city Nizhni Novgoro from June 10 to 11.
