The authorities confirmed a terrorist escalation in Jamundí (Valle del Cauca) during the morning of this Wednesdayafter the detonation of a ‘motorcycle bomb’.

According to the first information, The events occurred in the central area of ​​the urban area, near the Juan de Ampudia neighborhood, very close to the banking area of ​​the municipality.

RCN Radio He learned that there is preliminary talk of 4 injured people. These are two police officers and two civilians, who were sent to the Piloto hospital where they are being treated.

“I was leaving my house because I’m going straight to work and very close to Drogas La Rebaja and I heard that noise. I didn’t know where to turn, everyone was already screaming and then we saw that flare. There were a lot of people queuing at the bank and I don’t know what happened because they didn’t let them pass anymore,” said a resident of the sector.

It is worth mentioning that this is the second ‘motorcycle bomb’ attack in the urban area of ​​Jamundí in less than a month, since on May 20 an explosion was recorded that would have been directed at soldiers who were in the area.

Likewise, The harassment occurred at the Police station in the town of Potrerito, in the rural area of ​​Jamundí.

In response to this attack, armed forces helicopters are flying over nearby territories to secure the area. However, the authorities ruled out the presence of a car bomb in that town.

Meanwhile, the Mayor’s Office of Jamundí (Valle) asked the community for calm, through a statement. “We call on the community to remain calm, stay in their homes and follow the instructions of the authorities. Their cooperation is essential to guarantee their safety and that of their families,” states one of the sections of the document.
