dThe uniformed officers of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police were reported by a citizen who lost the money she had in her walletafter asking them for help.

The woman had requested the presence of the Police at her home in the town of Usaquén. However, the two agents who attended the case were involved in the episode of insecurity.

“I realize that they ended up stealing the money I had in cash. They opened my wallet. They took the cash from me, in Colombian pesos, and stole some dollars that I had saved,” he told Caracol News.

The police went to a home in the north of Bogotá after the complainant’s request.

Upon realizing the fact, she contacted one of the uniformed officers and warned him that she would report the case if the money was not returned.

“Look, I didn’t take dollars from you. They took 200,000 pesos from your wallet, yes, I’m telling you from my heart (…),” the man explained in the telephone conversation that was revealed by the television news.

The uniformed officers did not respond to the woman again, so she brought the situation to the attention of the authorities.

Police react to robbery report

Colonel William Lara, deputy commander of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police, “conclusively” rejected the actions of the reported uniformed officers.

“It goes against institutional precepts. Within the framework of the police transparency policy, these two officials They were removed from their positions and a criminal and disciplinary investigation began.“, he expressed in a video.

The woman reported the theft of cash, in Colombian pesos and dollars, that was in her wallet.

In that sense, the colonel insisted that “this action does not represent the feelings of more than 170,000 men and women” who work in the institution.

The agents must give their version in the processes that are now underway against them.
