(ADN).- The energy transition from Vaca Muerta and the fruit potential of the northern Patagonian region were the central topics on the agenda developed by the governors of Río Negro and Neuquén, with the president of Brazil, Ignacio “Lula” Da Silva. Alberto Weretilneck and Rolando Figueroa were in Rio de Janeiro today where they participated in the FII PRIORITY summit, organized by the Future Investment Initiative (FII Institute).

Invited by the Brazilian head of state, the leaders carried out intense activity with the region’s main trading partner.

Members of his cabinet of ministers also participated in the meeting with the Brazilian president. Then they met personally with the Chief of Staff Minister, Rui Costa; the Minister of Transportation, Renan Filho; and Energy, Alexandre Silveira. They also met with the president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard, and authorities from the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).

In May, during his visit to Houston, Figueroa already held meetings with directors of the Brazilian energy company, with whom they have been working on the potential that Vaca Muerta offers for the entire Southern Cone and investment options in the Neuquén basin.

At the summit, issues that mainly affect the northern Patagonian region were discussed, from an environmental approach, where Vaca Muerta plays an important role for the entire southern cone in the energy transition process from the development of gas, with the possibility of exporting to different countries on the continent such as Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Bolivia. The province has also been advancing actions for decarbonization, with the aim of exporting ‘Net Zero’ gas. The financing of these developments is one of the main topics of the meeting.

Meanwhile, Weretilneck referred to the market for pears and apples that they have managed to develop with Brazil and also that of onions, this country being the recipient of 90% of Rio Negro’s production. The Rio Negro President thanked Lula Da Silva for the work they have been doing with the Rio Negro technology company INVAP, fundamentally the Brazilian Multipurpose Reactor (RMB) project and different engineering projects.

The RMB will bring important social benefits to Brazilian society, as it will guarantee the autonomous production of radioisotopes, allowing the expansion of the use of nuclear medicine in the neighboring country.

The FII PRIORITY Rio de Janeiro 2024 was held this year under the motto “Investing in dignity.” Some of the most influential investors in the world, business leaders, heads of state participate in the activity; among others. During the day, exhibitors delved into how investing in ecological transition, technology and innovation, and social inclusion can build a new world order that prioritizes dignity for all.
