Guaranteed Minimum Income payments begin and the Better Transfers, More Well-Being strategy continues

• More than 427,000 households in poverty and extreme poverty in Bogotá have received transfers from the Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI) in 2024, with a total investment of more than 350,000 million pesos to date.

• The Better Transfers, More Wellbeing strategy has started banking sessions with the beneficiaries of financial support for seniors, so that they receive the money directly.

Bogotá, DC, June 12, 2024. More than 427,000 households in situations of poverty and extreme poverty in Bogotá have received transfers from the Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI) in 2024. In this way, the District has supported more than 316,000 households, with a total of 299,000 beneficiary households in June .

The investment for this month exceeds 59,000 million pesos, and so far this year, the administration of Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán has invested more than 350,000 million pesos.

Jennifer Schroeder, director in charge of Transfers, indicated: “Today we want to tell you that, for the entire year, we have served 427,000 households with resources from the District and the Nation. For this month of June, we are going to make monetary transfers for a total value from 59,000 million to 299,000 households in poverty in the city of Bogotá. This means that in the accumulated year we have an amount of approximately 350,000 million pesos.

Better Transfers, More Well-Being

Beneficiaries of financial support for seniors began attending banking sessions to receive the money directly starting in October 2024.

To date, they have been carried out in several locations, serving more than 1,500 older people. The Secretariat of Social Integration will continue to contact the beneficiaries, who will receive support through the financial operators that have an agreement with the District Secretariat of Finance: DaviPlata, Nequi, Bancolombia a la Mano, MOVii, Dale, or through withdrawal in window in Efecty points.
