The Tarapacá Region registered an average school attendance of 87.6% for the month of April 2024, which represents an increase of 0.8% compared to the same period in 2023 and an increase of 2.3% compared to April 2022, reported the Seremi (s) of Education, Liliana Valenzuela.

“This figure is positive, although we know that there is still a way to go to return to pre-pandemic figures and further improve in-person attendance, which is the key to learning. That is why we will continue working on the Educational Reactivation plan so that everyone can be in class and that no one is missing,” the authority said.

Guarantee and protection model

The region develops various initiatives linked to axis No. 3 of Assistance and Relinking of the Educational Reactivation Plan promoted by the Ministry of Education.

Together with the educational communities, public services and other institutions, the region held a dissemination day about the “Model of guarantees and protection of educational trajectories” with the aim of generating participatory, reflective and collaborative spaces on the monitoring and follow-up of actions that ensure the attendance and permanence in the classrooms of all students.

On the occasion, the educational psychologist, Juan Davila and the doctor in Psychology and Education, Francisco Leal on protection of educational trajectories, assistance and reengagement. Meanwhile, the Assistance and Reengagement team of Secreduc Tarapacá and Deprov Iquique presented information regarding statistics, goals and challenges regarding the local student retention process.

“This space facilitated reflection and discussion on the main critical issues and challenges present in the territory to safeguard the guarantees of educational trajectories and, at the same time, made it possible to identify the risks of school absenteeism and the contributions that institutions can make to mitigate its negative effects,” said Seremi (s).

Inclusive Education Seminar

Along these lines, Inclusive Education, with the sponsorship of the Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Education, will hold this Thursday, June 13, the seminar “Perspectives in Inclusive Education” which It is aimed at students, teachers of Pedagogy and Psychology, professors and assistants and educational professionals. The themes of this day consider: Well-being in the trajectories of migrant students, Deaf people at school, Autism Law: opportunities and challenges, Inclusion from the perspective of students and professionals, among other subjects.

Relinking

Along with the above, last year the Assistance and Reengagement team identified the establishments that require greater support and accompaniment in the face of school absenteeism to develop – together with their communities – a work plan that included various stages, among them, contact with families and students and a comprehensive plan for educational continuity, reaching 49 students from the region.
