The increase in taxis in San Juan began to take effect: it is 45%

After the government of San Juan authorized the 45% increase in the rate in the taxi service, they made official the prices that have been in effect since last Wednesday, June 12. With this increase the rates would be like this:

  • Flag drop: $720 (daytime) / $780 (nighttime)
  • Cost per 100 meters: $48 (daytime) / $52 (nighttime)
  • Value per km: $480 (daytime) / $520 (nighttime)
  • 40-second wait: $48 (daytime)/$52 (nighttime)
  • Waiting time: $4320 (daytime) / $4680 (nighttime)

According to the president of the Chamber of Permit Holders, Cristian Flores, the last increase had been registered in December of last year. For his part, Walter Ferreri, general secretary of the union, said that they had requested that the increase be 49%, but in principle, a 45% increase will be applied, despite the fact that it had been initially mentioned as 40%. .

At the same time, both Flores and Ferreri agreed that the increase does not cover the daily expenses of the car and that they are organizing a meeting with the Secretary of Security due to the insecurity that the sector experiences every day. The general secretary of the Union explained that the requested increase seeks to guarantee a balance between not harming passengers and meeting the needs of drivers.
