“Dear passengers, we informed you that if the flight regulations were not complied with we could not start the flight, it was not complied with and we had to return. “Now we are waiting for passengers who do not comply with the regulation to please disembark.”reported the crew of a flight that covered the Santa Marta-Bogotá route.

This uncomfortable situation occurred on flight 4049 that had to take off at 8:20 am from Santa Marta bound for Bogotá and, despite the repeated calls from the cabin crew for a father to seat his son and put him seatbeltthe minor refused to do so.
The captain of the flight gave up taking off for safety reasons and returned to the boarding position. Then, with the support of the security personnel at the Santa Marta airport and the Police, asked the father to get off the plane with his son.
The aeronautical regulations establish security measures for these atypical circumstances.

Alex Yesid Vega, expert in the aeronautical sector at the EAN University, gave his opinion on the security protocol followed: “The crew did well, because the safety measures, “both for the development of the flight and for other people, they are mandatory.”
For his part, Captain Juan Esteban Villa, president of the Colombian Association of Civil Aviators, explained that “All passengers must remain seated, with their seat belt fastened in all phases of the flight. “This improves standards and is due to air regulation.”
The airline reported that the Itinerary was delayed by an hour and the father and child were rescheduled on the next flight.
