Cristina Kirchner targeted the two senators from Unión por la Patria who voted for the Bases Law | The criticism of the former president

Former president Cristina Kirchner joined the chorus of criticism that in the last few hours targeted the senators of Unión por la Patria (UxP) Carlos Camau Espíndola and Edgardo Kueider, for giving Javier Milei’s government the green light it needed to approve the questioned Base Law.

The way in which the former president questioned both was to replicate on the social network

“If it had been the other way around, the senators would be the colleagues @StefaniaCoraOK and @AnaAlmironCtes, and we would not be begging them not to vote for the delivery of the Homeland,” says the harsh message reposted by Cristina Kirchner.

Cristina Kirchner’s elevation shot through the message of user @solmagno hit Espínola and Kueider squarely, but it is also a strong support for both.

Stefanía Cora had run as a candidate for senator along with Edgardo Kueider in the 2019 elections. She was a member of the Front for Victory and her candidacy as head of the list had been questioned by then-president Alberto Fernández.

She is currently a provincial deputy in her province, Entre Ríos, and in recent months she has presented several initiatives critical of the current government.

He has always expressed his closeness to the struggle of human rights organizations, supported feminist organizations and harshly criticized the closure of the Ministry of Women. She also spoke out against the closure of state media and advocated for sustained care for electro-dependent people, among other issues.

Something similar happened with Ana Almirón, second on the list that in 2021 took Camau Espíndola to the Senate and left her out. Her militancy continues to be within Peronism and she holds the position of advisor of the Yacyretá Binational Entity.

Kueider’s release

After the message shared by CFK, Kueider came out to justify his vote in a Twitter thread: “I am a Peronist, but before that, I am from Entre Ríos and I want the best for the province that I represent. That is why I supported the National Government Law – in general – with modifications and exclusions in all its chapters, which we achieved through dialogue”.

The senator pointed out that he voted “against the RIGI, of profits and personal assets” and that he avoided “the closure of science, technology and culture organizations, the privatization of Aerolíneas Argentinas and public media”, in addition to achieving the elimination of the pension chapter – which put an end to the moratorium – and “we modified many other articles that I considered harmful.”

According to Kueider, now that Milei would achieve the sanction of the Bases Law – which must be approved in the Deputies with the changes of the Senate – “he will not be able to say that Congress does not allow him to govern; he will have to assume responsibility for his own errors or successes.”
