The SMN Argentina reports, through the Early Warning System, that the entire provincial territory will be affected by strong winds, of varying intensity and according to the area.
In the area of Chilecito – Famatina – General Ángel V. Peñaloza – Independencia – San Blas de los Sauces – General Felipe Varela – General Lamadrid – Vinchina will be affected by Zonda wind. During the morning and afternoon the area will be affected by strong Zonda, with intensities between 40 and 70 km/h and gusts that can reach 90 km/h, and may be exceeded locally. For the night, speeds between 35 and 50 km/h are expected with gusts that could reach 80 km/h, which may be exceeded from time to time.
This phenomenon can cause a significant reduction in visibility, a sudden increase in temperatures and conditions of very low relative humidity.
For the departments Arauco – Capital – Castro Barros – Sanagasta
The area will be affected by Zonda wind with speeds between 35 and 50 km/h with gusts that could reach 80 km/h, which may be exceeded from time to time. This phenomenon can cause reduced visibility, a sudden increase in temperature and conditions of very low relative humidity.
In the Llanisto departments: General Juan F. Quiroga – General San Martín – Rosario Vera Peñaloza – Chamical – General Belgrano – General Ortiz de Ocampo
The winds will be from the west with speeds between 50 and 70 km/h, with gusts that can exceed 100 km/h.
In the east of the province of La Rioja, San Juan, north of San Luis and west of Córdoba, winds from the west are expected with speeds between 30 and 50 km/h, with gusts that can reach 70 km/h.

From the Chilecito department, Civil Defense reported the suspension of activities in education centers in the Chilecito department, after an orange alert due to the strong Zonda wind.
The National University of Chilecito also reported suspension of activities, in addition the Rioja Bus Service suspended its daily route.
As well as, in Sanagasta, Villa Unión and Guandacol, fallen electrical poles and some trees were reported.
