The FARC dissidents of the Central General Staff (EMC) attacked a police station in El Caramelo this Thursday nighta rural area of ​​the department of Cauca.

“Our troops from the Army’s 29th Brigade begin offensive maneuvers to support our brothers in the Police who are fighting against the residual organized armed group Jaime Martínez in the rural area of ​​Cajibío“, the Army reported in a message on its X account.

The operation has been reinforced “with air support from the Colombian Air Force to safeguard the integrity of the members of the Public Force and the community“.

The damage from this new attack is unknown at the moment.which occurs just a few hours after Jaime Martínez attacked another police station in Cajibío in the early morningwhich left no fatalities or injuries, but almost fifty homes were affected, according to the Mayor’s Office report.

This week the EMC, which is currently divided into two groups previously commanded by ‘Iván Mordisco’, has intensified the number of attacks in Cauca that They began with four coordinated attacks this Thursday that left one civilian and two uniformed officers injured.

The two most serious attacks occurred in Jamundí, Valle del Cauca: the first was a motorcycle bomb that exploded in the center of town, which left a civilian and two police officers injured, and the other was harassment against a police station in a rural area known as Potrerito.

The third was another attack against a police station in Cajibío, in the department of Cauca, which was repelled by the Army and left no deaths or injuries; The fourth was an action with drones in El Plateado, Cauca, which left three soldiers injured.

In this sense, the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, indicated in his X account: “With these fronts there is neither dialogue nor ceasefire. In-depth fighting is taking place in the Micay canyon and that is why they want to dilute the offensive of the Government on this objective with bombs in other places”.

The Colombian Government suspended the ceasefire in three departments after violence against indigenous people and public forces with the most belligerent group of the EMC, commanded by ‘Iván Mordisco’ and which is no longer at the dialogue table.
