The Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta, with the support of the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies, delivered five innovation laboratories in different city ​​institutions, the investment of 170 million pesos will benefit more than 9 thousand students from the urban area and the rural area of ​​the district.

The Secretary of District Education, Sandra Patricia Muñoz Dorado; He assured that the District Administration headed by Mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello, continues in the process of transforming the educational sector in Santa Marta.

This was announced during the delivery of educational innovation laboratories in five institutions of this Capital, including the rural area; in a joint task with the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications.

The District Educational Institutions benefiting from this National Government project are La Revuelta, in the rural area of ​​the District; ‘Jesús Espeleta Fajardo’ from La Paz; Rodrigo de Bastidas, Liceo del Norte and Liceo Samario, benefiting more than 9,500 students at the Primary and Secondary levels.

Each laboratory includes a 3D printer, a STEM engineering kit, a video projection system (interactive screen or videobeam), and a content manager; in addition to tools that will allow their application in all areas of knowledge, not only in computing or innovation.

For the rector of the Liceo Samario District Educational Institution, Oliver Pedrozo, there is no doubt that it is a great complement to the training of students: “It will allow them to explore much more in their training processes in computing, innovation and all the computational aspect, which are part of the education we provide at this institution,” he said.

Likewise, the tenth grade student of the same institution, Samuel Díaz Carreño, indicated that “This type of tools helps us exploit our creativity and brings us closer to new knowledge such as robotics and programming.” He added that what he likes most about the innovation laboratory is the 3D printer: “Because we can make prints of our designs that fit the measurements of the machine,” he pointed out.

For her part, the Secretary of District Education, Sandra Patricia Muñoz, assured that “in accordance with the guidelines of our mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello, we are supporting the educational innovation initiative, which projects the adaptation of spaces and implementation of innovation classrooms, with “the delivery of technological tools that will allow our students to delve into better learning based on new technologies.”

The education leader in the District, Sandra Muñoz, participated in the delivery day at the IED Liceo Samario; the ICT Ministry official, Alejandro Sierra; the rector Oliver Pedrozo; the director of the Quality Office in the Secretariat, Luz Estela Henríquez; in addition to teachers and students who participated directly in the tutorial segments.
