Maduro proposed on Friday, June 14, to open a research center for “traditional and ancestral medicine” in the state of Amazonas, without specifying whether the idea is related to natural medicines.
“We have to install and open, here in Amazonas, a powerful scientific research center for traditional and ancestral medicine, and convert ancestral medicine into the medicine of science,” he said during an inauguration of an imaging and oncology room in a clinic in Amazonas.
According to Maduro, the new center will be “concentrated on exploring the healing properties of the region’s ancestral medicinal practices,” although he did not detail what type of methods it refers to or what scientific endorsement they have.
He expressed his intention to “concrete the idea” so that, in the “second half of this year”, the “powerful center” will be installed in Puerto Ayacucho to care for diseases.
He assured that in the Amazon are the “secrets” to “the cure” of “all diseases” and said that other countries and continents, such as Japan and Europe – whose countries he did not mention – “take the secrets of the Amazon.”
During the event, a person thanked President Nicolás Maduro for “the authorized resources”, since patients diagnosed with cancer “must emigrate to the central states” to access a “definitive diagnosis” and “advance” chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. , although it is unknown if the funds will be used to resolve this deficiency.
