Aguas del Valle reports emergency water cut in La Serena
  • The conditions of the sources have not yet allowed for normal water production, so the system has been sustained with reserve water.
  • To support the neighbors, the utility provided 12 cistern trucks.

The zonal deputy manager of Aguas del Valle, Alejandro Salazar, reported that due to the increase in turbidity in the Elqui River, the utility has reduced its productive capacity, which is why low pressures and supply cuts have occurred.

“The intense rainfall caused a great increase in turbidity in the Elqui River, which led us to use the reserve waters of the Las Rojas dam, but the reduced production and high consumption of the post-rain population has forced us to carry out a supply cut in some sectors of La Serena,” said Salazar.

The executive added that the utility is carrying out various operational maneuvers and that the service should begin to be gradually regularized tonight. “To support the affected clients, we have 12 tank trucks that will travel through the affected sectors,” he reported.

Affected quadrant

The affected quadrant is comprised of Castro, General Novoa and Panorámica, Colo Colo, Juan Pablo I, Arauco, Los Jazmines, Pasaje Lingues and September 18, La Florida sector.

Estimated replacement time: 10:00 p.m.
