The Córdoba countryside could benefit from important projects that the Government of Córdoba has filed with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, with the aim of promoting agricultural productivity and strengthening livestock farming in the department. The initiatives seek to transform some 6,000 hectares and benefit more than 600 peasant families, as announced by Governor Erasmo Zuleta Bechara.
One of the established projects is the so-called “Campo Cambio”, which aims to improve the productivity and competitiveness of the agricultural sector in Córdoba.. “We have already filed the Campo Cambia project to begin transforming the first 6,000 hectares. We are talking about 10,000 hectares, we are already on the first 6,000”said the president.
If approved, this project would allow technical assistance, technology transfer and investment in productive infrastructure for small and medium producers in the department. The initiative is expected to generate a significant impact on the rural economy of Córdoba, by increasing yields, the quality of products and the income of peasant families.
The other project filed with MinAgricultura is “Regenerative Livestock”, which seeks to promote sustainable practices in livestock production in the department. “We have already submitted the other project, also to the Ministry of Agriculture, which is the Regenerative Livestock project to benefit more than 600 peasant families, small and medium livestock producers in the department of Córdoba,” said Zuleta.
This initiative aims to implement silvopastoral systems, genetic improvement, conservation of soils and water sources, and training of livestock farmers in good practices. It is estimated that the project could contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of Córdoba livestock farming, while improving the profitability and quality of life of producing families.
