Police discover fraud in Yopal: they sell cooking oil as vehicle lubricant

The Casanare Police uncovered a deception that puts Yopal drivers at risk. A group of unscrupulous people replaced vehicle lubricants with low-quality oils and even cooking oil, and then sold them as well-known brand products.
The investigation began on June 13 with five raids on stores that sell oils and lubricants. Captain Gómez, head of the local Sijín, revealed that scammers buy cheap oils in other areas of the country and bring them to Yopal to repackage them.

To avoid suspicion, criminals simulate the original stamps. They use a clothes iron to stick a second stamp on the nozzle of the container. However, Captain Gómez pointed out a key clue: the fake stamp covers the entire grille, something that does not happen with authentic products.

The profits from this illegal business are around 600 thousand pesos for each adulterated can. The Police continue to investigate to identify all those involved and stop this practice that threatens the mechanics of vehicles.

Authorities recommend car owners change the oil only in trusted places and pay attention to the characteristics of the packaging to avoid falling into the trap.
