“These are, in fact, cultural practices that we must banish, inform girls and adolescents, above all, that it is important to postpone their sexual relations and, if they are going to do it, that it be protected. When it is due to sexual abuse we have to prevent”, he indicated in a press conference.

Likewise, Minister Ángela Hernández was encouraged to advise minors to prevent these cases.

“Girls and adolescents, above all, must be informed that it is important to postpone their sexual relations. And if they are going to do it, let them be protected. (What happens when it is due to sexual abuse?) When it is due to sexual abuse, we have to prevent,” accurate.

What was said by Morgan Quero

As recalled, the Minister of Education, Morgan Quero, was reporting on the sending of a commission of professionals to investigate the 500 cases of sexual rape of minors in the province of Condorcanqui; however, he called this a possible “cultural practice.”

“Ten days ago I asked for a commission to be headed; first, to safeguard the victims of this town. “If it is a cultural practice that unfortunately happens in Amazonian towns to exercise a form of family building with young girls, we are going to be very cautious and demand a response from the community in relation to the corresponding releases,” he pointed.

Given this, the Ministers of Education and Women were summoned to report on the actions taken regarding cases of sexual violence against students in the department of Amazonas, but they did not appear before the members of the Women and Family Commission of the Congress of the republic.
