The construction site South West sewage collector renovation project, in the section between Elpidio González (between Las Cañas and Estrada) and Estrada (between Elpidio González and 25 de Mayo), developed by Aysam (with financing from the Nation) requires a subsequent intervention that is exclusively by the Municipality of Guaymallen, they specified from the commune. It involves the recovery of all the streets that were damaged by the placement of the new pipes that go underground.

As the replacement work for the new collector progressed, Guaymallen He was repairing the asphalt. Now the recovery of Estrada street between Elpidio González and Aramburu is pending, a task in which the commune has planned some significant improvements to improve traffic in the area.

Among the improvements stands out a roundabout to organize circulation at the intersection of Elpidio González and Estrada, an area with strong population growth due to the real estate developments that are being developed.

“With its own funds, the Municipality of Guaymallen assumes the responsibility of repairing what is damaged or affected in the work and we take advantage of this work to carry out urban interventions: we are going to generate all the reinforced concrete corners with an inclusive imprint, new sidewalks, new public lighting, a cycle path and the incorporation as well of a roundabout on the corner of Estrada that will substantially improve the traffic conditions of these arteries,” explained Mayor Marcos Calvente.

Then, the communal chief stated that “the municipality has invested close to 500 million pesos so far and we are 90% complete with the work that we plan to do, such as reconstruction of the road from cord to cord, the construction of the canal irrigation on Elpidio González Street, the gutters, the lighting and the incorporation of the roundabout on the corner with Estrada. When we finish it will be close to 600 million pesos.

The works on the South West collector began in December 2021. At the end of the presidential administration of Alberto Fernández, the Nation’s disbursements were interrupted and the work was paralyzed until in March of this year, the administration of Alfredo Cornejo took the decision to restart work with provincial funds. To date, the province has provided 3.6 billion pesos.

Following the agreement signed by the governor and the chief of staff of Ministers, Guillermo Francos, a week ago, the Nation committed to repay these funds in full.

This secondary sewage collector transports sewage effluents from the southwest of the Metropolitan Area (Godoy Cruz and Guaymallen) to the Máxima Noreste collector, located on Buena Nueva street (Profesor Mathus) that flows into the El Paramillo wastewater treatment plant (Lavalle), recently expanded.

In the project, it is planned to replace the section included in Elpidio González street (between Alem and Estrada) and in Estrada between Elpidio González and Lateral Sur del Acceso Este. The work is carried out in parallel to the existing collector in operation.

This South West collector must connect with a pipe that comes from Godoy Cruz, on Elpidio González street near Alem (on the west side of the South Access, where González borders the Viajantes neighborhood of Dorrego). To make this connection, a tunnel 1.20 m in diameter and 75 meters long is being built under the Access. With more than 15% progress, its construction is designed to not cut off traffic on the South Access.
