In response to requests from different supporters, the Ministry of Education has instructed the seremis of the regions of Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitana, O’Higgins, Maule, Ñuble, Biobío, La Araucanía and Los Ríos to provide facilities to schools that request suspension of classes during the week of June 17.

The measure was adopted in exceptional situations such as damage to infrastructure, connectivity and/or access problems to educational establishments, provision of basic services or for reasons of force majeure, after the passage of the frontal system.

The latter, in order to safeguard effective compliance with the curricula of the different levels and guarantee the adequate continuity of student learning in educational establishments. The suspension of classes will be subject to recovery.

The Minister(s) of Education, Alejandra Arratiapointed out that “in the face of the effects that the frontal system has caused in different areas of the country, we have found it important to provide flexibility so that educational communities can make the necessary adjustments to organize the appropriate return to classes.”

“That is why, in cases where required, we have instructed that the suspension of classes be authorized, at the request of each holder, recovering within the second semester the days that must be suspended in the remainder of the first semester,” he added. .
