As an argument for his decision, Rendón made reference to the concept of peace in Antioquia: “It is understood as the rule of law, justice and opportunities. And if you want, peace with signs of good will.”

Next, he indicated that the extinct FARC signed a Peace Agreement during the government of former President Juan Manuel Santos, during the process that took place in Havana, for which is not willing to sit down with the members of the dissidents, precisely those who failed to comply with said agreements and decided to continue taking up arms..

“These criminals have not shown signs of peace in the department. On the contrary, they sow terror. “During this year, in the subregions of the North, Northeast and Bajo Cauca, the population of Antioquia has been a victim of extortion, recruitment, terrorism, homicides, displacement and confinement due to the presence and actions of this illegal group,” wrote the departmental leader in his message, which support, in effect, the different facts that are frequently known due to the actions of this illegal armed group against the civilian population and the public force.

He also maintained that said dialogues will be maintained, as with the victims of the armed conflict in Antioquia.

Returning to the letter sent by Patiño, one can also read that they told the governor that the purpose of the scheduled meeting is “to address and build a plan of territorial transformations for peace in the north of Antioquia.” And they added: “In this sense, for the public peace policy of the National Government, your support, knowledge and contribution to achieving territorial transformations for peace is important.”

However, Given the current panorama of public order in the department and other areas of the country, due to the actions of the Central General Staff, various sectors, including citizens, consider that this group does not have a true will for peace.. The national government has not yet commented on the governor’s negative response.
