Environmental debate to build two airfields in Vaca Muerta deposits

In the town of Añelo, two public hearings were held to discuss the environmental impact of a project that proposes the construction of two private airfields in the oil areas of Vaca Muerta. The project includes an aerodrome in the Sierra Chata Concession Area and another in the Rincón de Aranda Area.

The project, presented by the company Pampa Energía, contemplates the creation of private aerodromes that will operate under the authorization of the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC). These infrastructures will be located in two key areas: Sierra Chata and Rincón de Aranda, both located in the Department of Añelo, Province of Neuquén.

During the conference, the Environment Secretariat of the Province, through its technical and legal areas, promoted a space for citizen participation where the companies involved responded to community concerns about the possible environmental impact of the project.

Public hearings are tools of citizen participation that allow interested parties to be part of the environmental impact evaluation process of projects in the province.

The public hearing was called by the Ministry of the Environment in compliance with the Provincial Constitution (Articles 90 and 93), Law 1875 (Articles 24 and 31) and its regulations (Annex II, Decree 2656/99).

The Undersecretariat of Environment of the Province of Neuquén called on the population ofthe area of influence and interested parties in general to attend and express themselves about the Environmental Impact Study proposed by Pampa Energía SA

The use of aircraft to transport personnel to oil areas is not new and in fact, until Route 5 was partially paved, there was an air bridge between Rincón de los Sauces and Cutral Co.

Two weeks ago, Governor Rolando Figueroa participated in the arrival at the airport of the city of Neuquén of the new aircraft owned by Chevron operated and certified by American Jet SA.

Infrastructure Minister Rubén Etcheverry said that “It is a new air bridge with a larger capacity plane to be able to reach El Trapial and other sites in the province.”.

“So the truth is that for us it is It is a pride to be able to continue building air bridges and at the same time they have presented a proposal to make new hangars for the company here at the Neuquén airport that we are evaluating and hopefully it can come to fruition.” Works in Zapala, Chos Malal and Aviador Campos were remembered.
