The Human Milk Bank (BLH) was inaugurated on June 16, 2016 at the Cutral Co-Plaza Huincul Hospital, and to celebrate its 8th Anniversary a virtual and in-person meeting will be held to make visible the role of godmothers and godfathers of the institution and introduce new collaborators. The meeting will take place on June 28, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., from the Health building of the Ministerial Administrative Center (CAM).

“The godfathers and godmothers were self-convened and appointed according to the affinity they had with breastfeeding, with the Network and the Human Milk Bank of Neuquén,” said the BLH Head of Service, Alejandra Buiarevich, and recalled that “ The first godmother was from Cutral Co, Susana Martínez, a great operator, unconditional for the Bank.”

This year three others join: Ernesto Maletti, a renowned pediatrician from Neuquén who has worked in establishments of the Public and private Health System, with various management positions, member of the Argentine Society of Pediatrics (SAP) and co-creator of the subcommittee in said organization. Lactation; Gustavo Sager, pediatrician, expert in breastfeeding, linked to the creation and operation of milk banks and professor at the National University of La Plata; and Patricia López, a dentist specialized in pediatric dentistry from Centenario, highlighted for her work linked to the promotion of breastfeeding.

Thus, to celebrate this new anniversary, the BLH invited to the meeting people who were outstanding for their contributions and support for the work carried out by the specialized center, which receives human milk from donors, analyzes it, classifies it, pasteurizes it and distributes it. to neonatal therapies in the province.

In these eight years, the following have become godmothers and godfathers: Susana Martínez, Marta Kemel, Sandra Valdalda, Natalia Rodríguez, Alejandra Ballerio, Emiliano Sapag, Alejandra Mercado, María Sortino and Ana Montagne.

It is worth remembering that since its inception, the mission has been to ensure feeding with Pasteurized Human Milk (PHL) to boys and girls born and/or admitted to healthcare institutions, with neonatal and/or pediatric hospitalization, according to medical criteria. established nutritional

Currently, the BLH covers the demand for all neonatal therapies in the public and private subsector of the Province of Neuquén through the Neuquén Human Milk Network, made up of 59 nodes located in health institutions, both public and private, in educational establishments in all levels, institutions and associations of civil society.
