With a direct impact on passenger transportation in the municipalities of Songo-La Maya, San Luis and Mella, train 86-87 Guantánamo-Holguín-Guantánamo began to circulate this Saturday, as part of the projections of the Railway Company of Oriente (EFO) for the summer stage and the second half of 2024.
Yasnay Sánchez Robert, Director of Operations of the regional entity, explained that the train in question will circulate Wednesday and Saturday, benefiting residents of several municipalities in the provinces of Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba and Holguín, and that “in the second fortnight they will begin work the Santiago-Manzanillo and Holguín-Antilla, as the repairs to wagons and locomotives are concluded in our workshops.
According to the directive, “the EFO will maintain the services of the Guantánamo-Santiago trains – known as the university train –, Monday and Friday; the Holguín-Las Tunas coach train, from Monday to Saturday; the urban Bayamo-Mabay train; the Santiago- Contramaestre; as well as the coaches that cover four daily routes between the City of Guaso and several towns in the easternmost territory of the country.”
