When is the National Student Festival 2024

According to what is established in the 2024 school yearbook of the Ministry of Education of Jujuy, The long-awaited National Student Festival is scheduled for September 18 to 28 this year.

Classroom activities related to the Festival will be aligned with the schedule determined by the Ministry of Education. It is expected that in mid-April the elections of student representatives in schools for the Capital and Departmental elections will begin, thus marking the beginning of preparations for this emblematic event.

History of the National Student Festival

The origins of the National Student Festival date back to the traditional student festivals, started in 1916 by the students of the National School No. 1 “Teodoro Sánchez de Bustamante”. These festivities, known as El Vejigazo, gained popularity as annual events full of humor, criticism and parody. However, they were suspended in 1947 due to political pressure.

The Festival as we know it today began to take shape in 1952, when San Salvador de Jujuy became the headquarters of Youth Week. Since then, it has evolved to include float parades, queen elections, and a wide range of cultural and sporting activities.

Currently, the National Student Festival is one of the most important tourist events in the province, attracting renowned artists and thousands of visitors each year. The celebrations, which last approximately two weeks, include events such as Student Saturdays, Student Graffiti, and the traditional Spring Welcome parade.
