The governor of Chubut, Ignacio “Nacho” Torres, will lead this Monday the presentation of a report on the Unified Security Command, just over two months after putting this new preventive force and fight against insecurity into operation.

The activity will be held within the framework of a press conference that the Chubut president will lead, starting at 6 p.m., at the Spanish Theater in the city of Trelew and which will also feature the participation and presentation of the Minister of Security and Justice of Chubut, Hector Iturrioz.

The Trelew case

The report that the head of the provincial Executive will present will emphasize the general indicators of urban crime of the last 10 years throughout the province, although it will have a special focus on the case of Trelew and the specific intervention that the provincial Government allocated in this matter. of public security to this town and its surroundings.

From the beginning of his administration, Torres expressed his concern about “the spiral of violence and crime” into which Trelew had particularly fallen and, since then, he worked on the creation of the Unified Command that brings together national forces such as the Gendarmerie, the Federal Police, Prefecture or Airport Security Police, as well as the Chubut Police and road agencies such as the Provincial Road Safety Agency, which act in a coordinated and strategic manner in prevention, controls and in the event of flagrante delicto.

Win the battle against crime

The Unified Command was presented at the beginning of April and had a very good reception on a social level and also in terms of performance. Since its creation, Trelew has recorded a significant decrease in the last two months in crimes classified as robberies, thefts and attempts: the Command also intervened in dozens of raids against dangerous criminal gangs; road safety operations, breathalyzer controls and prevention of attempted crimes.

Torres referred to this performance last month and expressed that “May was a record month in arrests” when referring especially to the action against criminals who intimidate Trelew and other localities and, on that occasion, he highlighted the political will of his administration, warning that “we are going to win the battle against crime.”
