“Encuentra Region 2024” is organized by theAssociation of Directors, Professionals, Technicians and Heads (ADIPROTEJE) of the Buenos Aires municipality and It was developed at the University of Valparaíso.

In order to generate proposals for the various social crises that afflict the country and debate the challenges faced by the sector in labor matters, the “Meet Region 2024, building municipal well-being” was held.

This meeting is organized by the Association of Directors, Professionals, Technicians and Heads (ADIPROTEJE) of the Municipality of Valparaíso; the School of Public Administration of the University of Valparaíso, sponsored by the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Public Administration (FACEA) of the University of Valparaíso; the Regional Federation of Municipal Officials of the Valparaíso Region and in collaboration with the National Confederation of Municipal Officials of Chile, organized in ASEMUCH.

During the conversation, the well-being of municipal officials currently, the balances and challenges, was discussed.

In this sense, the mayor of Valparaíso, Jorge Sharp, commented “that the Confederation of Municipal Officials of Chile has decided to hold this important meeting in Valparaíso shows that our city is a meeting point for the debates that the different groups carry out.” .

Adding that “we think that the demands that the Confederation of Municipal Officials has put forward in this meeting have to be listened to and supported by the government, especially with regard to pushing for the creation of a special scale for drivers. of the municipalities throughout the country, due to the special relevance that its function has in the movement that every municipality has to develop day by day, for the well-being of the inhabitants of the cities in which it has to intervene.

The presentations focused on the following topics: setbacks, conservation or changes in the legal framework on the well-being of municipal officials in Chile; ILO Convention 190 and Recommendation 206; Modification to the Welfare Law; Applied Karin Law, procedure manual, prevention and response in workplace, sexual harassment and discrimination in the municipality of Valparaíso; Law on Reconciliation of personal, family and work life: Pending task at the municipal level and Municipalities as a police force? Analysis of the bill that strengthens the role of municipalities in crime prevention and public safety.

In addition, during the day an Assembly of municipal leaders of the Valparaíso Region was held; presentation summary document of the Regional Meeting of Municipal Leaders – Valparaíso 2024, with the axes of work being: the Regional Organic Unit, Unitary Program and Training and Communication Tools.

The representatives of the Adiproteje of the Buenos Aires municipality highlighted the importance of these meetings, where they debate the challenges they face daily and the policies that should aim to improve working conditions in the sector.

The president of Adiproteje of the Municipality of Valparaíso, Sandra Aravena, commented that “the union of workers is strength and we have recently realized that there is a lack of training for municipal officials. The leaders attend various training sessions, but the officials themselves are not prepared to face certain issues that have to do with the union field and that is the most important thing for us, to prepare the different officials in the field and issues of national importance that concern us and that we must be prepared to face, such as well-being and security.”
