LOGROÑO, June 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –
On May 24, 25 and 26, the ‘Operation Spring Kilo 2024’ of the Food Banks was held in 42 establishments in La Rioja to obtain non-perishable food and money that will then be distributed among families at risk of social exclusion.
The supermarkets that have offered for this ‘Operation Kilo de Primavera 2024’ were: Alcampo, BM, Carrefour Berceo, Eroski, Lupa and Mercadona, although in some of them our volunteers did not attend, but when passing through the checkout the consumers were able to leave your money reflected on your ticket. The results of this ‘Operation Spring Kilo 2024’ have contributed 19,191 kilos of food and 45,939.61 euros to the Food Bank after going through the different boxes of these establishments.
In comparison to last year in which we received 19,816 kilos of food and the delivery to the establishments totaled 31,244 euros, we have collected more food and also more money, which will be invested in those same establishments to collect food, which we will then distribute to Our beneficiaries, who last year, I remind you, grew from 10,085 to 10,885 people.
The president of the Food Bank of La Rioja, Juan Carlos Fernández Ferraces, “who already announced that he encouraged customers of Alcampo, Carrefour Berceo, BM, Eroski, Lupa and Mercadona to leave non-perishable food or well, money that we immediately convert into food, to continue distributing to our beneficiaries those foods that are necessary to be able to lead a dignified life.
