Jorge Villamil Cordovéz, was a doctor and composer from Huila. He was born in the “Hacienda de El Cedral” in Neiva. His compositions of different genres of music such as bolero have been recorded by national and international performers and many of his songs such as bambucos, hallways, bundes, guabinas, rajaleñas, etc.

He made a wide international tour, such as “Espumas”, “Los Guaduales”, “You will carry me in you”, “Goodbye to Huila”, “Garza morena”, “Llorando por amor”, “Los remansos”, “Luna Roja” , “Vieja Hacienda de El Cedral”, “Oropel”, “Llamarada”, “El Barcino” among others, it is because of this and the fact that he has elevated music to an international level that he is known as ‘The composer of the Americas ‘.

For several years he served as director of “Sayco”, an entity in which he carried out important work in favor of Colombian authors and composers. He is, along with maestro José A. Morales, perhaps the composer of the new generations with the most extensive and successful musical production in the field of Andean music.
