The University of Valparaíso invites young artists to present their works and creations to the forty-sixth version of the National Young Art Contest, the rules of which have just been published.

In this version of the prestigious and traditional contest that the UV organizes every year, Chilean artists and foreigners residing in Chile, under 35 years of age as of October 31, 2024, may participate. People linked to the jury or the director may not take part. of the contest by marriage, by civil union agreement, by blood relationship up to the third degree inclusive, nor by affinity up to the second degree or adoption.

The theme of the works is free and the techniques that can be presented are painting, drawing, sculpture, engraving, photography, watercolor, ink, collage, manual or digital illustration, printing, embroidery, textile and mixed techniques. However, works in multimedia or video format will not be admissible.

Up to two applications for works per artist will be accepted for the contest, even though the author must make a separate application for each work.

The works to be presented by interested parties will be received from Monday, November 4th to Friday, November 8th, 2024 in the El Farol room of the Extension Center of the University of Valparaíso, located at Blanco 1113, Valparaíso, and on the Santiago Campus of the University of Valparaíso, located at Gran Avenida José Miguel Carrera 4160, San Miguel, Santiago. In both places the hours to attend will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The opening and award ceremony of the contest will take place on Friday, December 6, at 12:00 p.m., at the UV Extension Center. The selected and awarded works will be exhibited in the El Farol room, in the Espacio Matta Cultural Center in Santiago and in the Casa del Arte in Concepción, for exclusively educational and non-profit purposes.

The jury of the forty-sixth version of the National Young Art Contest will be composed of Gustavo Ávila, architect and artist; Daniela Bertolini, graduate in art, and Isabel Cauas, engraver, who will define those selected for exhibition based on reviewing the works in person, an action announced for Friday, November 15, 2024.
