Denis Elvira King de García, paternal grandmother of the renowned Colombian soccer player Radamel Falcao García, died this morning at the age of 89 in Santa Marta, the forward’s hometown.
Mrs. King de García died at 2:15 in the morning at the Julio Méndez Barreneche hospital in Santa Marta, where she was hospitalized due to heart problems. Despite her medical efforts, she failed to recover.
Falcao had visited his grandmother just 10 days ago, on June 7, in what would be their last meeting. The soccer player, who had not returned to Santa Marta since the death of his father in 2019, took advantage of his vacation to visit his grandmother with his wife Lorelei Taron and his children.
Through his Instagram account, Falcao shared an image of this last meeting with the message “Rest in peace, grandmother”, confirming the sad news.
So far, it has not been confirmed whether the footballer will attend his grandmother’s funeral. This recent visit to Santa Marta was the first in several years for Falcao, who had not returned to his hometown in some time.
The news has moved the footballer’s followers and the community of Santa Marta, who express their condolences to the García family in these difficult times.
