The National Institute of Health recognized the work carried out by the team of the Boyacá Grande Health Secretariat.
Tunja, May 17, 2024. (UACP). At the recent National Public Health Surveillance Meeting held in Bogotá, the National Institute of Health (INS) announced the ranking that recognizes the performance in the comprehensive evaluation of public health surveillance, corresponding to the year 2023.
In this ranking, the Boyacá Health Secretariat is ranked as the best department in the country. This result earned him recognition from the INS.
“During the meeting, the institute recognized 10 territorial entities that showed themselves to be the best in the integrated evaluation of performance in response to outbreaks and public health events, as well as in the development and maintenance of capacities. According to the INS, the three best departments were Boyacá, Putumayo and Norte de Santander,” indicated Clara Sonia Guerrero, representative of the Public Health Surveillance of Boyacá.
This exaltation takes on special relevance if you take into account that the team has remained, since 2017, among the three best in the country. That is, for seven uninterrupted years it has been recognized for the development of its capabilities in health risk management.
This is a measurement that the institute initiated with the aim of strengthening the evaluation and identifying existing gaps in the departments when responding to outbreaks or public health events in their territories.
“The measurement includes a series of indicators where 70% of these are public health surveillance and 30% corresponds to the measurement of capabilities,” said Franklyn Prieto, director of Public Health Surveillance and Risk Analysis of the INS during the national meeting.
Boyacá obtained a score of 96.41% out of 100, followed by Putumayo (95.42%) and Norte de Santander (95.31%).
“The importance of our department’s public health surveillance work team is reflected in the capabilities of the health network for preparation, planning, surveillance, risk communication, response and intersectoral coordination in the face of any situation that arises with diseases.” in Boyacá,” Guerrero highlighted.
