In dialogue with Radio Splendid, Kueider justified his vote by ensuring that “it made no sense to block” the ruling party from the Senate. Furthermore, he considered that it seemed “an unnecessary whim and a bad strategy” not to vote in favor of the Bases Law, the flagship project of Javier Milei’s government.
“In December, when the new authorities took office, they questioned us about what our position was going to be, because the position was to block them and we asked ourselves why. When the DNU entered, I was the first in the entire country to take a stand against it,” the senator said this Monday.
Kueider assured that “he wanted the DNU to be rejected” and that thanks to “his strategy”, and saying “publicly” that the DNU “as it was was unconstitutional”, he managed to have the project modified.

“Round crisis” of Peronism and criticism of Cristina Kirchner and Alberto Fernández

The senator from Entre Ríos then pointed out: “We cannot say that ‘if we don’t govern we will set everything on fire.’ We cannot constantly be in the position of not letting govern. With that logic, Peronism reached this point of resounding crisis.”
Kueider was consulted about the expressions of several Peronist senators (from the former Frente de Todos and current Unión por la Patria) about calling those who voted in favor of the Base Law “traitors.” On that point, the legislator stated that he was not and that if anyone “betrayed and destroyed” the party it was “Alberto and his shooting with Cristina.”
Indeed, last week there were exchanges on social networks between Cristina Kirchner and Alberto Fernández over the creation of lists from 2019 and 2021 that brought to Congress some legislators whom they accused of “treason.”
“If you ask who leads Peronism today, people give you different answers. Alberto had the opportunity to rebuild it and he didn’t do it, he stayed in the middle. Furthermore, he left me in writing that he was going to solve the energy issue in Entre Ríos and then he blocked my phone. I don’t know if it makes me happy or sad,” said Kueider.
The senators who voted in favor of the project sent by the Executive make up a minority within Peronism. For this reason, the majority space put on the table the discussion about whether or not they should be separated, as Juliana Di Tullio openly did, who also demanded the expulsion of Daniel Scioli.
When asked about this issue, Kueider said that “he doesn’t know what they are going to do” he only stated that “they are going to have a nice debate within Peronism” and that they will see “who is the Homeland and who are the traitors.”
“One of the main axes of delivering the country is with the RIGI (Incentive Regime for Large Investments) and I voted against. In Unión por la Patria, some voted in favor and, therefore, it was not rejected. I who voted against am I a traitor to the country?” questioned the senator from Entre Ríos.
Kueider also stressed that his vote was “again decided” and that “many people congratulated him” because, although he thinks “different from this Government,” as a senator of the Nation “he cannot prevent the development” of a democratically elected administration. .
“We had to recover what we had lost: the debate between parties to modify what we believe is wrong. It’s not a yes or no. There is a little federal agenda in a totally unitary country. We have to put that in the debate,” summarized the legislator.
Finally, Kueider stressed that “you have to read why people voted for Milei,” despite having said “everything he said he was going to do” during the campaign.
