Arrest of Public Official in Corruption Case in Los Lagos

The Los Lagos Regional Prosecutor’s Office, through the prosecutor Marco Muñoz, has reported on the arrest of a citizen, who is a public official of the Los Lagos Regional Government. This action was carried out this afternoon by personnel from the Money Laundering Investigative Brigade (BRILAC) of the Puerto Montt Investigative Police, following a court order from the city’s Guarantee Court.

The arrest is part of the investigation carried out by the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, known as case “Gore Los Lagos Agreements”. The accused will be presented before the Court in the next few hours to be formalized for various crimes of public corruption.

For her part, the legal head(s) of Gore Los Lagos, Fabiola Yáñez, declared that the Regional Government has actively collaborated with the proceedings ordered by the Prosecutor’s Office, carried out today by the PDI. According to Yáñez, under the direction of Governor Vallespín, the Regional Government is the main interested party in clarifying the case and determining those responsible, regardless of their position. “It is favorable that the investigation is advancing and we hope that it will soon come to an end, thinking about the well-being of our officials and the work that our institution must continue to do in favor of the Lakes Region”added Yáñez.
