The president of the institution, Marta Bonet, presented the distinction to Villarreal, who has maintained a link with the Antillean nation since 1998, as published by Uneac in its X profile.

Orchestral conducting has been Maestro Villarreal’s main focus and his endorsement is that he was a member of the Bureau of the Pierre Monteux Festival and Music School in Maine, United States, a professor at the Faculty of Music of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and holder of his Sinfonietta.

Also assistant director of the Symphony of the University of Guanajuato, and frequent guest of the main Mexican groups.

Other references about the maestro, published by Uneac, indicate that the musician has consolidated a repertoire in which he pays attention to the most important schools of Western music and the emerging work of Latin American authors.

The Harold Gratmages International Prize, a distinction awarded by Uneac, is named after one of the most important musicians of Cuban creation of the 20th century.

It is considered the most important award given on the island to personalities related to music in the world.
