The academics Anahí Ocampo, from the Faculty of Forestry Sciences and Nature Conservationand Anahí Urquiza, from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Chilehave released the new book titled “Study of Adaptive Management in Chile: Discovering Elements for Resilience“. This release stands out for bringing together contributions from authors from various faculties of the University of Chile, providing an interdisciplinary approach to current challenges through the transdisciplinary network of academics and researchers from members of ENEAS Uchile.

In a world marked by complexity, uncertainty and conflict, old ways of doing and being no longer offer the necessary answers. It is in this context that the need arises to adopt adaptive and dynamic management in the face of constant changes. The book, edited by academics Ocampo and Urquiza, synthesizes crucial concepts, experiences and tools to face these challenges, addressing both freshwater and sea water management.

The content of the book highlights the importance of management that not only reacts to changes, but also anticipates them, providing theoretical and practical frameworks that can be applied in various contexts. The collaboration between the different faculties of the University of Chile in this project, the researchers highlighted during the launch, reflects the richness and diversity of perspectives necessary to address contemporary environmental and social problems.

During the launch of the book, which was carried out virtually, Anahí Ocampo, deputy director of the FCFCN Undergraduate School, highlighted that what this work reflects indicates that “the knowledge that has been shared to date has allowed us a greater understanding of current environmental problems. Especially, the complexes in indivisible links between environmental and social complexes that cause coupled or united yet unpredictable patterns of behavior to emerge.”

According to the academic, Anahí Ocampo, the launch of “Study of Adaptive Management in Chile: Discovering Elements for Resilience“Not only does it provide valuable knowledge for academics and professionals, but it also invites deep reflection on the way we manage our natural and social resources. The integration of science, experience and practice in this book seeks to be an essential tool for those committed with the construction of a more resilient and adaptable society.
