“Corrientes is one of the main generators of renewable energy in the NEA,” Fabricio Piazza, from the technical area of the Bella Vista Electric Cooperative, told Hoja de Ruta. “In Corrientes we saw great progress on the issue of renewable energy,” he said.
“There is great progress by the province and the cooperatives. From having nothing we went on to have approximately 4 megawatts of renewable energy in solar that inject that energy into the different networks of the cooperatives,” he said.
“If we do not have any kilowatts of renewables, from 2021 to this point, the four cooperatives in the province are all generating and injecting that energy into the grid. Which means, of course, Corrientes is positioned within the NEA as one of the main generators of renewable energy,” he highlighted.
The professional indicated that in the case of the first plant “around 300 families” are supplied. In the second about 200 families. “What we have to be aware of is that this generated energy contributes to the energy that is purchased from the Provincial Energy Directorate. That is, it does not supply 100% of all these demands,” he highlighted.
“When we started this, economically it was not the best option because the energy is in pesos and the inputs in dollars. So, let’s say, the amortization of these investments is very long term. And it will be manifested with more power,” he explained.
Piazza explained that although there is a paradigm shift in the type of energy used and produced, “it still costs a little with producers who have been in the field for more years.”
“With the value of the rates it will take off but we still have to wait a little,” he indicated.
