Who is Jhonatan Osorio, the Colombian player from Canada who will face Argentina in the 2024 Copa América?

On some occasions, footballers defend colors other than the country where they were born. Either because they became naturalized in the nation where they lived most of their lives, or because they were given the opportunity in another federation.

This is precisely the case of Jhonatan Osorio, a Colombian by nationality, since his father is from Cali and his mother is from the coffee region. However, he was born in Ontario, Canada.

He is a midfielder called up for the Copa América 2024 and could play in the opening match of the tournament, where paisa Feid will give his musical show. It is worth pointing out that Osorio was playing in the Concacaf qualifiers for the 2002 World Cup in Qatar, but was not called up to play in the global tournament.

Jhonatan Osorio was born in Canada, but his parents are Colombian.

In 2012, Osorio began his career with SC Toronto in the Canadian Soccer League. During his season, he finished as the club’s second top scorer and helped Toronto finish third overall, securing a postseason berth.

The truth is that Osorio was called up to play the opening game of the Copa América, nothing more, but against the current champions, Argentina.
