Mayor Gatica: “Artisan Center is a long-awaited work”

The community leader believes that the project will have a social and tourist impact in Coyhaique.

The Regional Council of Aysén approved in full the resources that will allow work to begin on the Coyhaique Craft Center, a space that includes two levels of more than 1,400 m2, and that will house 70 families of artisans.

The approval of resources was valued by the mayor of Coyhaique Carlos Gatica, emphasizing that it is a work of impact on job creation, local identity and the tourism sector.

Gatica highlighted that the project had been in management for more than a decade and that given its importance it will be part of the bicentennial projects for the city of Coyhaique.

Carlos Gatica stated after the approval of the resources that they are an investment of more than $10 billion pesos that will allow the work of the Artisan Center to be carried out.

“Its design has had as its main axis the local, geographical and cultural relevance of our city, so it will be a building that we hope will be a meeting point for the community,” said the mayor.

“It will be a work that will also mark the bicentennial of Coyhaique and ensuring its proper functioning will be key, since it will mobilize the local economy and boost the tourism sector,” he added.

Carlos Gatica highlighted that when people and the impact of the works are put at the center of an initiative, it is possible to achieve great agreements, so an example of this is the approval of the project by a large part of the union of the Arresanos from Coyhaique.
