In an operation in Chachagüí, Nariño, resulted in the seizure of almost 200 bottles of liquor and numerous boxes of contraband cigarettes. The action, carried out by uniformed personnel of the Chachagüí Police Station with the support of Departmental Revenues, responds to complaints from residents about the risk that these substances represent, especially for young people.

“In response to the call from the inhabitants of Chachagüí regarding the risk that the consumption of intoxicating beverages presents to many people, especially young people, it motivated a surprise operation in stores, tobacconists and bars in the town,” Police said.

During the operation, which was carried out in stores, tobacconists and bars in the town, the authorities They seized 186 bottles of liquor of various brands, 152 containers of artisanal liquor and several boxes of contraband cigarettes. It is estimated that the total value of the seized merchandise amounts to about 11 million pesos.

The Chachagüí Police highlighted the importance of these operations for the protection of public health and community safety. The consumption of adulterated and contraband liquor not only poses a risk to the health of consumers, but also affects the local economy and evades taxes that are crucial for the development of the region.
