Minutes of tension were experienced in the facilities of the National Customs of Bolivia, located on the double road to La Guardia, in the capital of Santa Cruz. A group of people tried to recover two trucks with contraband merchandise by violating the offices of the state entity, leaving broken glass and damage to the furniture.

The incident occurred around noon this Thursday. It is known that a mob entered with violencebut it was neutralized by the Police, who managed to apprehend around twenty people who will be brought before a precautionary judge for the damage caused.

José Luis Mollinedo, regional manager of Customsexplained to local media that a “violent clash group of criminals” attempted to recover two trucks full of contraband merchandise that had been previously seized.

The attackers used stones and firecrackers, and there is even preliminary information about the use of firearms. Fortunately, according to the official, thanks to the rapid intervention of the Police, the attack was contained and injuries were avoided. The agents had to use tear gas to control the situation.

The Police managed to arrest 19 people involved in the attack. “This will not be tolerated, We cannot allow these criminals to attack us.“Molinedo stated.

The detainees will be placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry to face the corresponding legal consequences, he said.

The attack caused significant damage to Customs facilities, including broken glass and other damage to offices. As a result of these events, the police maintain a constant presence at the site to guarantee the safety of Customs personnel and property.
