With the emotional interpretation in string arrangements of songs by Violeta Parra, Víctor Jara and Jorge Yáñez, by the Quartet of the Regional Youth Symphony Orchestra of Valparaíso, the launching ceremony of the Eighth Season of Concerts by Youth Orchestras of the Valparaiso University. The event took place at the Municipal Theater of Viña del Mar, the stage where the first concert of the 2024 cycle will be held.

The event was attended by the rector of the university, Osvaldo Corrales; the executive director of the Youth and Children’s Orchestras Foundation (FOJI), Pablo Aranda, and the mayor of the Garden City, Macarena Ripamonti, who were accompanied by representatives of the organizing entities and the orchestral formations that will take part in the season.

On the occasion, Pablo Aranda, along with expressing his gratitude to the University of Valparaíso and the Viñamarino municipality, valued “this opportunity that is given to us, to continue this activity that we have been carrying out, through an agreement, to strengthen ourselves, establish ties . This especially thinking that the space that art offers to young people is a very important space in society at this moment because it is a different space. It takes them to another relationship with themselves, it takes them out of the immediacy of everyday life, it takes them out of television and takes them to the theater, it takes them to music, to the concert. And in the case of FOJI particularly, we make all our young people participate in this orchestral practice, which we believe is a space for them to have a comprehensive training. But let’s also not forget that behind a young person are families, so we give access through them to many families so that they can listen to a different repertoire, such as the orchestral repertoire.”

He added that “we are happy as FOJI for this opportunity, and we certainly want to be ready for all possible collaborations to continue giving strength, energy, providing this poetic space, a different space, to all our young people.”

For her part, Mayor Macarena Ripamonti highlighted the opening of the Municipal Theater for this season: “We have had our Theater open for six months now, more than 64 thousand people have come, and they have been able to enjoy not only conventional programming, but also of this type of show, of free instances that are also based on educational and obviously democratic processes, such as bringing the youth and children’s orchestras of the FOJI through the University of Valparaíso. They are training instances linked to the academy, and this space is made available, without a doubt, to enhance the work, the discipline, the rigor, the perseverance that these young people and children have throughout the year, throughout their lives. ”.

For this reason, the city manager added, “being participants and being able to witness this meeting and this eighth season is a pleasure for us. And I reiterate: the Municipal Theater is an open space for all talents, for the artistic expressions of the region, of the country, and above all to value training processes through art and culture.”

Rector Osvaldo Corrales supported the above ideas, adding that “although there are youth orchestra festivals throughout the country, there is no youth orchestra season, that is, a long cycle where young people, young people who are part of orchestras Youth from different parts of our country can express their talent, can show their works on stages like this one, like the Municipal Theater of Viña del Mar, so significant. For us, of course, part of our vocation is the development, the dissemination of culture.”

Corrales especially thanked the support of the Municipality of Viña del Mar, “in the person of its mayor, for having given us the opportunity to inaugurate and close this series of concerts here, at the Municipal Theater, a theater that was closed for a long time and that Today it opens its doors so that the residents of this commune can access different forms of art, and in particular they can also be part of this cycle of youth and children’s orchestras that we inaugurated today and that we will have until October of this year. .

At the close of the event, the agreement was signed between the FOJI and the University of Valparaíso, within the framework of which the Eighth Season of Youth Orchestra Concerts is taking place.
